Trivikrama, Agasteswara swamy temples, Cherukuru Bapatla

This temple has a special significance as the diety in the temple is TRIVIKRAMA Maha Vishnu. that is Vamanavathara Vishnu murthy has shown his trivikramavataram at the time of measuring with his feet entire Bhumi or Prithvi with one foot; entire Akash or sky with second foot and sending the Bali chakravarthi to Pathala lokam against the third feet of land that he has given as danam.

Agasya maha muni has also made prathista of Maha shiva lingam 4 feet high and agasteswara swamy temple is located 500 mts away from the main temple of Trivikrama sri maha vishnu temple.

My classmate Budati Ramana Murthy is presently acting as the executive officer for this temple and so, I visited this temple three times during the last 2 years on certain occassions of festivals.

Ramana murthy helped me with contacts f Kotappa konda EO and Vallurama temple EO at Ongole. I am thankful to him for all the help co-operation extended during my visits to various temples with relevant information.

  1. Good information.
If possible please give temple history and puranic back ground. That enhances the interest in the minds of the readers.

    1. I have learnt Vaikhanasa Aagama Archana Vidhanam by staying about 2 years in this village PEDA CHERUKURU(and nearby village Returu). The period was 1970-71.I stayed in the house of Sriman Narayanam Venkatacharyulu and practiced Archana Vidhi in The Temples of Trivikrama swamy and Narasimha Swamy Temple(Returu). He was my fraternal grand father. That is own brother of my grand mother(mother of my father).

He was a Viakhanasa Aagama Scholar. He wrote many books on Aagama Saastra(Aahnika Ratnakaram,Mareechi Nithyarchana Prayogaha etc.) As i know-he dedicated his life for spread of Aagama Saastra among Vaikhanasas. He has run a Vedic School in Bapatla as well for some time and taught/trained several vaikhanasa students in the state of AP.

His house at PedaCherukuru was an utopia with about 15 to 20 people always. His wife Smt Seshamma was real ANNAPOORNAMMA with overall domestic supervision while husband was busy with Aagama books publications at nearby town Bapatla round the year.

Sriman Venkatacharyulu was so involved in spreading Aagamas that he even doesnot have much time to think about the formal/English education of his own sons(2)-Suryanarayanacharyulu and Ranganath(Naadhayya)-though they were taught Aagama Saastras to some extent.I was told that he was an excellent Ayurvedic Medical Practitioner about 50 years ago.

There used to be good vacant land in the house (at Returu) wherein he raised many vegetable plants like brinjal.ladyfingers.tomatoes etc.I used to pick the ripe vegetables for cooking. He used to cook himself as all other family members stays at Cherukur. He had special affection towards me (then my age was about 10 years)as my Aagama/Vedic Chantings were perfect/to his expectations and my grasping/learning things was much faster than fellow students.

He has sacrificed his entire life for the upliftment of Aagamas/Hindu culture and surely deserves for the State Award(Post humously).I pray the God to shower His blessings in plenty on his two sons, their wives and his grand children.

      Oh..GOD...ARE YOU LISTENING...!!!
